For a company that specialises in more accessible sports cars, Porsche has grade A provenance in the supercar sector. The original '70s 911 Turbo was a prescient car, proving that Zuffenhausen had the expertise to mix it with the big boys from Modena. And so it proved, as the 911 gave way to 959 and from there to the latter-day Carrera GT.
ANOTHER rise last month has taken UK car sales to their longest-ever period of growth. A total of 194,032 new cars were registered in May – a 7.7% rise on the May 2013 figure, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said. The increase last month was the 27th consecutive monthly rise – beating the previous record of 26 months of growth between May 1987 and June 1989.

The Cupra is the top of the hot tree in the SEAT world, and so the new SEAT Leon Cupra will sit ahead of the Leon FR. With 240bhp and a 0-60 of around 6.4 seconds this is a quick car. The Cupra gets a set of 18″ alloy wheels, lower suspension, a different grill and door mirrors and a chromed tailpipe.
